Maestro - Oil

"Maestro"  -   oil on linen

"Maestro" was selected as part of the FAV15% (jury's favorite 15% of the entries) in the January 2015 BoldBrush Painting competition.

"A creative palette and nonconformist movement through a scene give McGee's work a unique and powerful stance. Truly, her pieces are very interesting to study."

"Streets of New York - The Striped Umbrella VI", oil on Italian Panel, 12" x 9"

The Salmagundi Club is presenting its historic Black and White Exhibition 2015!

The first Black and White Exhibition was held in 1878.

From  January 19th through February 5th,

you will be able to view the exhibition

at The Salmagundi Club, Upper Gallery

47th Fifth Avenue, New York.

I have a brand new oil painting in this exhibition.  Each painting was juried.

The Salmagundi Club is one of the oldest art organizations in the United States.  Founded in 1871 the club is historically housed in Greenwich Village and continues its ongoing art classes, auctions,

demonstrations, art forums, exhibitions...

It is always such a thrill to be showing at this prestigious club.

After posting "The Violinist #4"  on my Facebook page I received this wonderful comment!

"The key distinguishing factor between artists style is originality and any one of September McGee's works is a no-brainer.  She's got her signature style down to an art form."                                                                       Harushi Tetsuka

                                                                                               ... and this!...

"If Rock music is neon colored pop art and jazz is boldly colored expressionism, then classical is more like realism or impressionism. The mixing of these two painting styles is what makes September McGee’s work so widely acclaimed and collected. It is also what makes her Music Collection such an appropriate centerpiece in her body of work. McGee’s paintings combine assertive color choices with charming line drawing to capture the refined energy of the classical musicians depicted. "
